For this trip we concentrated on the coastal area Porlock to Minehead and inland to Horner Wood

We stayed at the following campsites:

  • Minehead C&CC
  • Sparkhayes at Porlock
  • Burrowhayes at Horner
Our Elddis Accordo 105 at Minehead C&CC site above Minehead Bay
Walks included:

  • North Hill west of Minehead
  • Bossington, Allerford and Selworthy
  • Porlock marshes and Weir
  • Horner River and Woods
NE Exmoor turned out to be one of the best places we have ever found for a walking holiday. It has everything - coastal walks, ancient woods and high-level moorland - and all criss-crossed with some of the most beautiful paths we have ever experienced.
We experienced it in late Spring/early Summer, but it would probably look gorgeous in the Autumn when the oaks turn and the hillside bracken is ablaze with colour. Plus the opportunity for fungus forays and watching (and waking up to) over-wintering birds on the marshes.

More detail about sites and walks can be found here Exmoor June 2015 Diary - it can be read online or, because it is in Adobe Acrobat format it, can be downloaded and read offline. The format has been designed to be mobile-friendly. Set the Acrobat Reader apps viewing mode to 'text reflow'. You can then pinch the screen to increase the text size as required. Tap the right side of the screen to go to the next screenfull of text.

Please enjoy and comment.
